One of the musicians of greater prestige of the Latin jazz, Néstor Towers began in the world of music thanks to the stimulus of its ancestors. His father, the pianista well-known Puerto Rican Néstor Torres, gave a drum when fulfilling the five years to him. That was its first musical instrument and through him it took his first steps in the art. Besides to flatter his first instrument to him, his father also taught to him to listen to the music of Tito Bridge like the one of other important artists. In the same way, its progenitora initiated in the knowledge of the Latin rates and the classic pieces of universal music. Although it began touching the drum, when fulfilling the 13 Néstor years Towers son it changed the rhythmic sounds of the drum by the sweet and refrescantes sounds of flauta. It studied this wind instrument while it attended his studies in the schools intermediate and superior.
When culminating their preparatory degrees entered the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico. In the institution it completed his baccalaureate in Mu'sica and Pedagogía of Music. But its student day did not culminate there. Soon it was transferred to the city of New York. There of Music continued its training in classic music in the Mannes School and later in the New England Conservatory of Boston. During that time, also flauta learned the art to narrate histories with his; ability that got to practice at professional level. While it studied, Néstor Towers had the opportunity to touch in different bands. Among them with the group of afroantillana music Batacumbele in Puerto Rico, with Typical Ideal, Free Set, Orchestra Novel, the group of Joe Quijano and Charanga America. At the time of knowing on the African roots of Latin music, its passion to know on those cultures more took it to Suramérica to Africa and. In his trip by South America, it decided to remain in Colombia by more time. There first record production "Colombia in Charanga" recorded his, an anthology of folkloric songs to which it incorporated a base of afrocubanos rates. That first record work reached the position more number five of the lists of sold discs of the mentioned country.

A Twist of Marley

Es la primera vez que el "Captain Fingers" Lee Ritenour se acerca al reggae de Bob Marley. Su CD de 1997 This is Love debió su título en la versión que hizo de Is This Love y ya en Wes Bound de 1992 habia interpretado a Waiting in Vain. Ahora en el nuevo milenio, reunió a un destacado grupo de artistas del Smooth Jazz para nuevamente rendirle tributo a Bob Marley, pero en un disco con únicamente sus composiciones.

De esta manera nace el proyecto A Twist of Marley, A Tribute, en donde participan los saxofonistas Michael Brecker y Gerald Albright, el trompetista Rick Braun, los cantantes Lisa Fischer, Maxi Priest, Jonathan Butler, Will Downing, Richard Bona, Phil Perry, Jochem, Digz y Patti Austin, el guitarrista Marc Antoine y el pianista Dave Grusin. Un conjunto de tantos artistas estelares dan como resultado varias canciones en cartelera y varias semanas en las primeras 10 de la Billboard.

Solo dos temas son instrumentales, la exquisita Get Up Stand Up con la famosa pareja Lee Ritenour en la guitarra y Dave Grusin en el piano, en una versión que nos recuerda algo al sonido de Fourplay y Jamming en donde el Captain Fingers comparte el protagonismo con Gerald Albright. Los demás temas son cantados y entre ellos destacan Exodus con Michael Brecker y Lisa Fischer, la infaltable I Shot the Sheriff con Ritenour y Maxi Priest y la deliciosa No Woman No Cry con Jonathan Butler en la guitarra y voces.

Para los aficionados al reggae y el jazz, A Twist of Marley es una excelente opción a ser incluida en su colección.

Natiruts - Eu e Ela

La banda Natiruts salió a la luz con su primer disco llamado Nativus (con un total de 12 canciones) que se publica en el año 1997 con un gran éxito, por lo que se ganó un considerable grupo de adeptos. Su próximo trabajo fue Povo Brasileiro (con una composición de 14 temas) este álbum salió a las calles en el año 1999. Luego, en 2001 estrenaron un nuevo disco con el nombre de Verbalize (con 14 canciones en su lista). Después de casi cuatro años sin sacar un disco nuevo publicaron su último disco hasta la actualidad llamado Nossa Missão (con un total de 12 temas).
